Solr - Bringing search back to the enterprise

In the last few years we've seen search emerging as a key functionality in all types of applications. With the growth of the world-wide-web and the digitalized enterprise, finding the right information in the most efficient and effective manner is considered to be one of the toughest challenges we're facing.

For many years, the enterprise search domain was dominated by a few key players which provided expensive commercial and proprietary solutions to face this challenge. Fortunately, this is no longer the case! With the extensive work and enhancements put in the Lucene project and the birth of Solr as an enterprise search server, finding and navigating enterprise information is easier and cheaper than ever.

This presentation will introduce you to Solr and its capabilities. It will start of by reviewing the core concept of search and how they're supported by Solr. It will then cover some of its more advanced features (such as faceted classification) and how you can leverage them in any typical enterprise application.
