Does the architecture of today’s software development tools address the business requirements of software development in a globally integrated world?

Many of the present generation development tools are best-of-breed within a particular silo of the software development cycle. Though somewhat better than completely isolated tools the end-to-end integration of many such tools is still fragile and limited. Data are still encapsulated in closed data formats, much like the situation with IT applications before database architectures became popular in the seventies and eighties.

This talk reviews requirements and architecture of the Jazz technology platform and the why and how behind the Jazz based Rational Team Concert.
