Membership provides members free access to the NLJUG workshops and events on a variety of Java topics, held across the country on a regular basis. Plus on a quarterly basis the Java Magazine published by Array Systems. The NLJUG is a member of a worldwide network of Java User Groups.

Het laatste jaar zijn een aantal in het oog springende APIs ontwikkeld die interessant zijn voor met name desktop- en WebStart-developers.

Hoewel de specificaties nog niet af zijn, of net beginnen op te drogen, kijkt deze presentatie naar vier afzonderlijke ontwikkelingen en wat deze de developer te bieden hebben.

De vier APIs zijn:

Java Media Components API - Video zonder gedoe.
JSR 310: Date and Time API - Lost dit de pijnpunten van de Date/Calendar-API op?
Scene Graph project - Een andere manier om met graphics om te gaan.
Fork/Join Framework (JSR 166Y) - Eenvoudiger gebruik kunnen maken van alle cores in je CPU.

Floris Ouwendijk
NCIM
Floris Ouwendijk is principal consultant bij NCIM. Zijn voorkeur gaat daarbij vooral uit naar desktop applicaties en/of het efficient omgaan met grote hoeveelheden data. Daarnaast houdt Floris zich binnen NCIM bezig met het Java Competence Center.
