Keynote - Building Highly Scalable Java Applications on Windows AzurePublic cloud platforms provide seamless elasticity and massive scalability for compute, plus application platform capabilities such as near-infinite storage, NoSQL and relational databases, distributed cache, message queues, application and network connectivity, security with identity federation, etc.; all integrated as ready-to-use services. However, the fully integrated cloud platform also uses a different type of reliability and scalability model, and requires us to apply different design principles. This session discusses how Java applications, such as those based on Tomcat and GlassFish, can be deployed in Windows Azure, then explores the patterns and practices in architecting cloud-based applications.
