Building disconnected applications using ADF

Sometimes it feels like we are always and everywhere online. Internet is everywhere, on your pc, your laptop, your mobile phone. You can even access the internet while flying or riding a train. Unfortunately, there are situations when you can't connect to the internet. Not even using a UMTS or GPRS card.

This is the situation we encountered while designing the Donor Procedure Application (DPA) at Eurotransplant. Transplant Coordinators use DPA to collect donor organ information. Part of this process occurs in locations where internet is not available. But the information needs to be sent to Eurotransplant where it is matched to a database of recipients.

DPA has been implemented using Oracle's Application Development Framework (ADF). During this presentation I will explain why we choose Oracle's ADF and how we used it to combine a number of other technologies to implement this application.
