3 hour Flex Test Drive - handson

Tijdens deze hands-on sessie leer je in een korte periode Rich Internet Applicaties te bouwen bovenop Java backends met behulp van Adobe Flex en de Flex Builder Eclipse plugin. Bij Flex draait veel om de model-view-controller architectuur die verwerkt is in het framework. Aan bod komt de decleratieve UI taal MXML, de object georienteerde programmeertaal ActionScript (die de ECMA Edition 4 standaard volgt), de rijke set aan UI componenten en de vele mogelijkheden om met Java backends te integreren.

Stap voor stap integreer je de Flex frontend op steeds geavanceerdere manieren met de java applicatie server; te beginnen middels XML en WebServices, later via Remote Object Invocation van POJOs om zo uiteindelijk client-server data management op te zetten middels een java assembler, Hibernate of Spring adapter binnen de LiveCycle Data Services (een 100% java applicatie die draait op de server). Indien de tijd het toelaat behandelen we ook nog het kunnen koppelen van een Flex frontend met een Java Message Service om zo daadwerkelijk data van de server naar de client te kunnen pushen.

Tussen de hands-on stappen door worden tips en tricks over de IDE en het framework gegeven, kijken we naar geavanceerde debugging en profiling mogelijkheden als ook naar wat er binnen de community beschikbaar is aan frameworks en tools.

Simon has been an Adobe Certified Master Instructor since the ‘Allaire days’, back in 1997. He co-authored the official Adobe Flex 2 training material and he has been working with ColdFusion and Flex since the early beta’s of 1.0. He is a regular speaker and has spoken at multiple Allaire Developer Conferences, Macromedia MAX and Adobe MAX conferences from 1999 to this year, as well as many other international events.
